a Panda Product Service System for 2037
"It is 2037. The consequences of climate change are increasingly visible and extreme. Citizens are aware of it and are adopting for more sustainable lifestyles. Institutions in cities are leading the change, the Politecnico di Milano has already achieved "carbon neutrality" and aspires to become "carbon negative" by using sustainable energy sources produced on campus. Students, at the forefront of this challenge, are addressing the new SDGs as part of their curriculum. Everyone's collaboration is paramount as local stakeholders are involved in building a circular systems based on the reuse of waste materials. FLOORMA consists of a system of tiles that create paths in the busiest areas of the Politecnico di Milano's Durando campus. The more people who walk on FLOORMA, the more energy is generated. This system transforms the kinetic energy of steps into electricity for both the campus and the community. Thanks to FLOORMA, those who attend the university contribute to the Politecnico's goal of becoming "carbon negative" and facilitate the city's public system in using clean energy. FLOORMA operates in total transparency in terms of environmental responsibility, committing to using natural and reusable resources. The tiles are made entirely of OSB, a material made from waste wood from various manufactures. This project also strives to make users aware of the amount of energy produced through the simple daily action of walking."
