In the near future, rural areas of Indonesia will have 500.000 houses without access to electricity. Despite this, frying food is an inseparable part of their lives, making Indonesia one of the biggest consumers of cooking oil in the world. Yub is a new way to generate energy from waste cooking oil. Oil is stored in special collapsible bottles which are brought to the communal collection station with an ethically weaved backpack. The waste oil is then turned into biodiesel which powers up portable powerbanks which are brought home.
